¿What are the rooms like at Yemaya?
All of our rooms have sea views, are large, with terraces, 24 hour power, hot water, king sized beds, overhead fans etc. We try hard to conserve the island’s precious water supply so we only change sheets and towels every four days, unless otherwise requested. Each room has an AC unit, but AC is not included in the basic room only price (Essential Package). Also WiFi is available in room, although it can have issues depending on weather and network carrier. It is also not available with the basic Essentials Package. You can choose a standard room with a balcony, or treat yourself to one of our 5 rooms which come with a plunge pool.
¿What are the food and beverage options in Yemaya?
Our restaurant is a casual affair, perched on a small bluff overlooking the stunning Caribbean Sea. We try to use as many ingredients as we can from the island and the sea that surrounds us. Dining out on our terrace, gazing out across the mesmerizing colors of blue and turquoise, or under a starlit sky will be one of those memories you and your partner will carry with you forever. Love is in the air! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all consist of a simple menu, inspired by local ingredients and traditions and can change depending on the availability of ingredients on the day. Our bar has a limited wine list, local Nicaraguan rum, beers, and some of the classic cocktails if you are in the mood for a mojito, piña colada or margarita, all-island style of course. And for a special occasion, we might even find a bottle of bubbly or two.
¿Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests?
We are remote and items can take weeks to arrive from Managua. We will always do our best but please forgive us if we might say no to your request. We do however always offer a simple vegetarian meal option.
¿Is there a clinic or hospital on the island?
There is a very basic clinic staffed by a nurse. Any serious injury or illness requires a boat ride to Big Corn Island where there is a hospital and doctors. And for severe cases, a flight back to Vivian Pellas Private hospital in Managua which is an excellent facility. Please always have Travel Insurance to pay for any unexpected transport or emergency medical expenses!
¿Is the island expensive?
Yes, and No. Many items including food and drinks can be expensive in comparison to the same products found in Managua or even more so in comparison to western countries. Remembering that this is a small island, the cost of transport logistics adds a premium. Waste and spoilage is also high. The salty climate also takes its toll on many things that must be replaced often so this must be factored into prices. However, if you eat at local places with simple island fair it can be inexpensive.

Little Corn Island runs generators to supply town power between the hours of 7:30 am to 12:30 am.Outside of these hours Yemaya also has generators on site allowing us to provide 24-hour power for our guests. We do our best to ensure there are no disruptions in power supply however things can go wrong of course. When this happens it doesn´t normally take us too long to get things working again.
Being on a tiny island lost in the Caribbean comes without many of the standard services we are all used to. We treat all of our waste water on site using a top of the line biodigestor plant. This mini eco system is delicate and for this reason we ask that our guests respect our rules of not adding any paper or other non bio materials into the system. This helps us run an efficient processing plant and avoids contaminating the pristine island environment.
We do our best to reduce our waste as much as possible. All organic waste is composted and used for our gardens. Any other non biodegradable waste must be shipped back to the mainland for disposal.
